RESTAURANTS
All 11 dinner restaurants at Excellence Playa Mujeres feature a la carte dining. Reservations are not required or accepted. From what we have experienced in several stays at Excellence resorts, there is seldom a wait.
DRESS CODE:
For Dinner Restaurants CHEZ ISABELLE, TOSCANA, SPICE, BASMATI & BARCELONA
Casual elegance for gentlemen: Long pants, dress shirt, casual shoes or elegant sandals must be worn. Casual elegance for ladies: Long pants, Capri pants, skirt, blouse, casual shoes and elegant sandals must be worn.
Not allowed: t-shirts, tank tops and / or beach sandals.
For Dinner Restaurants AGAVE, THE GRILL, THE LOBSTER HOUSE & THE FLAVOR MARKET
Casual elegance for gentlemen: Short pants and Capri pants are allowed. Dress shirt, casual shoes or elegant sandals must be worn.
Casual elegance for ladies: Long pants, Capri pants, blouse, casual shoes or elegant sandals must be worn.

BARCELONA
Mouthwatering Mediterranean cuisine for dinner in an air conditioned setting. This restaurant absolutely amazed us in how delicious it is.
TOSCANA
This is the place for a variety of Italian food, ideal for a romantic dinner with a Tuscan touch. Open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. This is also the place for air conditioned breakfast. It is buffet for breakfast and lunch, but they have stations that will prepare omelets or Eggs Benedict for breakfast; and have carving stations, seafood stations and several types of pizza for lunch.
LOBSTER HOUSE
This open air restaurant is circled by a lazy river pool and overlooks the beach and ocean, and has terrific views of Isla Mujeres. Simply put, this is the place for Lobster. The menu is full of lobster appetizers, lobster salads, lobster chowder, plus lobster main entrees cooked to order. There is also Mahi Mahi, Shrimp, and a lobster and tenderloin kabob. One disappointment – the Key Lime Pie was not Key Lime, not even close. It was more like lemon meringue. Dinner was very good.
This is a good bet for breakfast if you want to start your morning off with a nice breeze and great ocean views. It is a very typical a la carte breakfast menu including omelets cooked to order, 2 and 3 egg dishes with ham, sausage & bacon. Really, a good variety.
For lunch Lobster House has the basic variety of sandwiches. We prefer the menu next door at The Grill.

SPICE
A beautiful air conditioned Oriental designed restaurant with tasteful Oriental background music. Every one of our clients who have stayed at Excellence Playa Mujeres so far have raved about Spice and eaten here twice during their 7-night stays. Now we know why. Spice has a terrific Pan-Asian menu featuring dishes from Japan, China, Vietnam and Thailand. We completely enjoyed it and left quite full and content. Open for dinner only.
CHEZ ISABELLE
This air conditioned French restaurant is terrific, even for those with demanding standards. They offer many of the typical French appetizers you might expect such as Duck, cold and hot appetizers, soups like French Onion with white Zinfandel, and the Fish & Seafood combo which I had and loved, yellow fin tuna, and escargot in a pastry cup with Roquefort cheese.
The dinner had many outstanding selections like Broiled Sea Bass which was generous in size but light in taste, Curried Scallops, Grilled Rib Eye, Venison, and Duck. Open for dinner only.
THE GRILL
Choose from a wide variety of meats prepared over the grill in this open air restaurant under the same roof as the Lobster House, just on the other side.
The Grill is also open for lunch and for a wide range of tasty casual favorites. That makes it our favorite lunch spot. Consider an appetizer menu of zesty Buffalo Wings, Chicken Fingers, Seafood Ceviche, monster nachos, or the enormous Chicken Caesar Salad that had huge strips of tasty grilled Chicken. And that is just the appetizers. Main lunch entrees include Grouper, Club Sandwich, Mahi Mahi, Hamburger, Chicken Burger, and more. The dessert menu is extremely tempting if everything above was not enough already.
AGAVE
It is nice to know that an authentic Mexican restaurant in Mexico lives up to the billing, and Agave does. Agave is a combination open air and air conditioned restaurant. The open air part is completely open to the sky and the moon on appropriate evenings, and we enjoyed that. The appetizers and soups are extensive, as are the main Mexican dishes such as Chicken and Beef Fajitas, Chimichangas, and others. Open for dinner only.
THE FLAVOR MARKET
This is a new addition to the Excellence lineup. This air conditioned venue is more of a meet your friends and snack before dinner type of place. It is a friendly gathering place with Tapas samples, a great place to pair flavors from around the world with different wines. Open for dinner only.
BASMATI
Playa Mujeres newest resort restaurant! Basmati specializes in the regional dishes of India’s North-West frontier, mixing up tangy herbs, spices and cooking techniques against a dramatic and romantic backdrop. Open for dinner only.
