Brand New Adult-Only Punta Cana Resort Has it All
ULTIMATE VACATIONS recently spent several days at at Excellence El Carmen in Punta Cana. Our experience at this new adult-only resort was wonderful. Our only complaint was we didn't stay long enough to sample every restaurant. I have a feeling each deserved to be attempted at least once.
The suites begin at 800 square-feet and feature Jacuzzi, double sinks, large patio or balcony, liquor set-up, 46-inch TV and more luxuries. You can upgrade to Swim-up, Private Pool, or even Private Rooftop Suites. By upgrading to Excellence Club you truly upgrade your entire experience with a private lounge and dining room, exclusive pool and beach area with service on steroids, upgraded room amenities and liquor, and so much more.
Let's talk about food. Excellence excels at this. Always has. There are no less than 12 eateries at Excellence El Carmen, including the Lobster House - devoted to Lobster and seafood, and Chez Isabelle with delicious French cuisine. There are also Italian, Mexican and Asian restaurants as well at an amazing Food Truck for late night munchies and an actual Sports Bar with spicy chicken wings, nachos, onion rings, wraps, burgers and TV's with MLB, NHL, NFL, NBA, NCAA and even WWE on. More resorts should follow suit.
Bars. There are 16 of them, beginning with the Lobby Bar, centrally located near many of the restaurants. There are swim-up bars, beach bars, pool bars, the Sports Bar, exclusive bars to serve Excellence Club guests around their exclusive beach and pool sections, and a nightclub that thump until 2am. One note: the bartenders at Excellence are excellent and the drinks do not have that common watered down feel.
Room Service is available - 24-hours in fact, with a pretty extensive menu. And room service includes wine and alcohol. Bet you haven't seen that before.
Excellence El Carmen has 23 pools to frolic in and around. Each has plenty of lounge chairs under palapas for shade, swim-up bars and servers. One of the main pools actually surrounds The Lobster House and Oregano. There's plenty of afternoon entertainment around the pool. The beach is long and deep, with lots of palapas and nearby bars. Of course Excellence Club guests have their own exclusive sections with outstanding service.
The nightly entertainment is outstanding and draws large engaging crowds. There are theme dinner and dancing nights like the White Party. As for the spa Excellence has made a point to have plenty of couples massage areas both within the spa and by the beach. And next to the spa is the 4,000 foot Fitness Center, which is both well equipped and attended.
One of the impressions we developed at Excellence El Carmen is that while it is an adult-only resort it manages to satisfy couples who want romance and some solitude as well as those who want activity and nightlife. Well done.
